In addition to the exclusive subjects, doctoral students can attend all the curricular units offered in the different areas of specialization of the Masters in Sound and Image, Cinema, Photography and Creative Industries, which will allow doctoral students to obtain technical and practical knowledge that are decisive for the development of their theses.

For every complex and surprising scene you see in cinema or TV, there are 2D/3D and “Compositing” artists who use real images captured by the camera and integrate computer generated elements to create incredible shots and sequences that deceive and dazzle our eyes. perception.

The Postgraduate course is be integrated into the infrastructure of the Center for Digital Creativity, benefiting from its connection to the creative industry, cultural entities and audiovisual producers, and in the context of research, at CITAR - Center for Research in Science and Technology of the Arts.

The Center has, in its research activities, a team of researchers working in the field of cinema and cinematic art, producing articles, projects and artistic creations within this context. This group of researchers has, in recent years, a relevant scientific production in areas such as contemporary cinema, Portuguese cinema, experimental cinema, visual arts, photography, curation, aesthetics, etc.

Graduates benefit from a broad cultural program already in place that includes Artist Residencies, film sessions, regular exhibitions, interdisciplinary seminars and a Summer School. It will also benefit from collaboration protocols with different cultural entities, such as: Serralves Museum, Porto City Council, Porto/Post/Doc, Solar - Cinematic Art Gallery, Curtas Vila do Conde, Future Places, etc.

The Master in Creative Industries Management is able to:

• Develop technical-scientific activities in the areas of knowledge related to the identification of business opportunities in the Cultural and Creative Sector.

• Analysethe context and prospective scenarios of the organizational environment, related to the development of activities in the Cultural and Creative Sector.

The Master in Cinema is an advanced training in contemporary cinema, deepening the technical and creative skills developed throughout the Degree. It allows choosing a specific focus of work, within the area, with the realization of author projects. The course is concluded with the completion of a final project, a theoretical dissertation or a curricular internship.

The Ilídio Pinho Auditorium (AIP) is a large Auditorium with  a capacity of 470 seats, divided between audience, 1st balcony and 2nd balcony; - Stage with 15 x 13 m (195m2 including backstage); - Projection Screen with 9 x 5 m; - Projection system of digital technology DCP * (Projector NEC 2K, 8000 Lumens); - Dolby Surround sound system with 24 speakers; - Capacity for 18,000 watts of illumination; - Digital Recording and / or Streaming on Régie de TV;

* The DCP (Digital Cinema Package) system is a prime technology for cinematic projection, allowing the display of contents with high quality of sound and image.

The CCD has 10 sound and video production cells (~10m2 each), which include audio and video computer workstations installed with industry standard software (Apple Final Cut X, AVID ProTools 10, Adobe After Effects, Photoshop,  etc.), where sound and video editing and postproduction projects can be developed. Most cells include a small sound recording booth for simple tasks as voice overs, narration recording, etc.

A 50 m2 acoustically treated studio regie with: an ICON 64 Fader D- Control ES Bundle System; Pro Tools HD with 16 preamplified inputs; 7.1 Blue Sky preamplified sound monitors with Sky System One 5.1 + two SAT 12 monitors; Hardware Dolby Surround (DP570 - Multichannel Audio Tool, DP564 - Multichannel Audio Decoder, DP570 - Multichannel Dolby Digital Enc.); and sound synthesis software, including Waves Diamond, Native Instruments Komplete 8 Ultimate and Vienna Symphonic Orchestra.
