The inaugural edition of the conference brought together national and international participants to celebrate and reflect on the convergence of sound, new media and artistic expression, exploring a diverse range of innovative practices, theories and approaches.
The event was attended by prominent guests such as Gabi Wijers, Rosa Menhman and Salomé Voegelin. There were also around 19 speakers on various panels.
Included in the conference program was the workshop "Preservation on New Media Art", led by Gaby Wijers, founder and director of LIMA - Living Meida Art Foundation. In the workshop, which took place on the first day, Wijers outlined four main strategies for preservation: storage, migration, emulation and interpretation/re-interpretation.
At the start of the two days of lectures, the Organizing Committee mentioned the importance of these events and how "it is with pleasure that we begin this adventure within School of Arts and CITAR as institutions that actively intend to have an active and positive action in the creation of knowledge and critical mass in art and academia."
On the second day, Rosa Menkmann presented the lecture "Beyond resolution: Building a practice from compromises in New Media", in which she discussed with the audience the boundaries between artistic creation and research.
In the closing session of the conference, artist, writer and researcher Salomé Voegelin took the participants on a unique and intimate journey that crossed performance, collective listening, poetry and activism, always using sound as a starting point for looking at the world.
