'Summer Rains', a short film directed by Mário Veloso, has been selected for the San Sebastian International Film Festival, for the NEST Competition, a section dedicated to short films by students from film schools around the world.
The festival, one of the most prestigious and internationally renowned in Spain, takes place from September 20 to 28 in the capital of Guipúzcoa. This edition of the San Sebastian Festival features a program of around 200 films selected for 7 competition sections (Official Selection, New Directors, Horizontes Latinos, Zabaltegi-Tabakalera, Perlak, Culinary Zinema and Nest) and 6 non-competition sections (Made in Spain, Zinemira, Velodrome, Movies for Kids, Retrospective and Klasikoak).
Mário Veloso's film will be screened on September 25, between 12:30 and 13:44, at Tabakalera-Theatre 1.
Synopsis
Interrupting the silence, punctuated by late summer rain, a group of boys destroy the matriarchal memory of an old bedroom. Faced with imminent danger, the older boys vie for leadership. As the afternoon lengthens with the intensity of the rain and the heat inside rises, they resort to violence. In the vulnerability of a wounded body, Chico, the young misfit, finds a tragic omen of desire.
