School of Arts of Universidade Católica Portuguesa continues to make a name for itself on the film scene, with several productions selected for festivals, both nationally and internationally.
IndieLisboa returns for its 22nd edition, from May 1 to 11, with two School of Arts productions selected for the National Competition, which brings together Portuguese feature and short films that, for the most part, have their first world or national presentation at IndieLisboa. Among the selected are “Crua+Porosa” by Ágata de Pinho and “Maria Henriqueta Esteve Aqui” by Nuno Pimentel. Both films were developed as part of the Advanced Training course in Cinema and Television, in partnership with the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. +info
Nuno Pimentel's film had its world premiere at the 26th edition of the Buenos Aires Festival Internacional de Cine Independiente (BAFICI), held at the beginning of April, and will also be present at the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen.
Student Ainá Xisto's experimental documentary, “CANTOS DA METAMORFOSE OU AQUELA VEZ EM QUE EU ENCARNEI COMO BOTO”, has been selected for the 7th edition of the Si Cinéma Festival - International Festival of Film in Art Schools, which will take place on April 24 and 25, 2025, in France. The project was carried out in the context of the Master's Degree in Film at School of Arts. +info
O documentário experimental da alumna Ainá Xisto, “CANTOS DA METAMORFOSE OU AQUELA VEZ EM QUE EU ENCARNEI COMO BOTO”, foi selecionado para a 7ª edição do Si Cinéma Festival - International Festival of Film in Art Schools, o qual decorrerá de 24 e 25 de abril de 2025, em França. In turn, “Hypnotized” by Bruno Reis, an SoA Animation Master's student, was selected for Animatiba - Curitiba International Animation Festival, which will take place from May 8 to 14 in Brazil. This festival is an important platform for the best international animation productions. +info
In addition, “Chuvas de Verão” by Mário Veloso has been selected for the Festival Internacional de Cine de la UNAM (FICUNAM), which will take place in Mexico City from May 29 to June 5. This festival is dedicated to contemporary cinema and promotes exchanges between young filmmakers, valuing creativity and innovation in the seventh art. +info
