On October 8, 2023, in Auditorium 3 of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, a private film screening was held, which presented the eight films that resulted from the course that the Foundation organized with the School of Arts between September 2022 and February 2023.
Advanced Training in Cinema and Television brought together eight emerging directors (from a call to which more than 200 candidates responded), who, over the course of several months, went through the different phases of producing a film. Throughout this time, they were accompanied by several tutors from the different creative areas of cinema and television: Pedro Lopes, Graça Castanheira and Nuno Artur Silva (screenwriting), Luís Urbano (production), José Vasco Carvalho (sound), João Rui Guerra da Mata (art direction), Rui Poças (cinematography), Mariana Gaivão (montage) and Andreia Bertini (colour correction).
Celebrated directors such as Celine Sciamma, Lucrecia Martel and Atom Egoyan also attended the course as guest tutors. The group also had continuous artistic support from João Canijo and Marco Martins.
These are the eight films produced:
- Crua + Porosa, Ágata Pinho
- Gardunha, Ana Vilela da Costa
- Na Galáxia Solar, Clara Jost
- Cleópatra & António, Diogo Bragà
- Pedra Seca, Luísa Mello
- Chuvas de Verão, Mário Veloso
- The Illusion Of An Everlasting Kiss, Marta Sousa Ribeiro
- Maria Henriqueta Esteve Aqui, Nuno Pimentel
The eight films will now begin their journey through festivals, still awaiting their world premiere.
