January 16, 2025 was marked by the death of American filmmaker, writer and artist David Lynch, at the age of 78. His career included films such as Mulholand Drive, Lost Highway, Blue Velvet and The Elephant Man, as well as the television series Twin Peaks. His feature films earned him Oscar nominations for Best Director. However, he would only win the Academy's golden statuette in 2019, with an honorary award celebrating his entire career.
Carlos Natálio, professor of film history at School of Arts of Universidade Católica do Porto, recalls David Lynch's legacy in an interview with Radio Observador. The professor believes that the films the filmmaker made will live on in the memory.
