CITAR’s Heritage & Conservation and Restoration Focus Area Capacities

The H&CR Focus Area possesses a range of instrumental analysis possibilities based on dedicated specialized equipment to serve its researcher’s needs. It offers the capacity to perform characterization of different types of samples, with special focus on approaches based on optical methodologies for material characterization as well as micro/biological techniques for biodeterioration characterization. Equipment available include (but is not restricted to): portable Visible Spectrophotometer (colorimeter) and digital microscopes, several fixed optical microscopes (with or without polarization) and grinder/polishing equipment for stratigraphic sample preparation, microbiological air monitoring system as well as incubators and varied pH electrodes both for liquid samples and surfaces.
