Applications are open until December 15 for the 2024 Artist Residency Program at Sertão Negro Ateliê e Escola de Artes.
This program, scheduled to take place between May and September 2024, offers five places, one international, two national and two local. The program aims to create a dialogue between the visual arts, the environment and traditional knowledge.
The international (one place) and national (two places) residencies will last four weeks, the first in a quilombo in the state of Goiás and three in the Sertão Negro, in Goiânia. The two local artistic residency vacancies for residents of Goiás will last 12 months and include a monthly grant of two thousand reais.
During the period at Sertão Negro, located in Goiânia/GO, the international and national residents will have access to food, accommodation, a subsidy of 1,500 dollars and air travel.
Under the mentorship of visual artist Dalton Paula, the resident artists will have the opportunity to use the structure of the studio, which has a library with a collection of 3,000 books, as well as equipment such as easels, an engraving press, an electric lathe for ceramics and an industrial kiln for firing ceramics, porcelain and glass.
