Umbigo #89 highlights the theme of the Apocalypse and proposes a reflection on the fictions, ravishing fetishes of destruction and ruin that abound in media and social ideology. The cover and Art Project are by Hugo Almeida Pinho & Sara Castelo Branco.
Issue #90 is dedicated to Celebrative Practices, exploring dance, clubs, raves, performance, ancestry and celebration. The special issue focuses on the Porto Santo School, in collaboration with Porta 33, connecting art, pedagogy, ecology, community and architecture. One of the covers is by Carla Filipe.
Umbigo Online Newspaper #3 includes an article in the zoom section on “The Encyclopedia of Black”, dedicated to the Enciclopédia Negra exhibition that was on show at School of Arts until October 4th.
Umbigo is an art, culture, fashion and lifestyle magazine published on paper quarterly and online with daily updates. Born in June 2002, it arose from the need to fill a space in Portugal due to the lack of magazines related to art and culture. It has undergone several transformations, broadening its themes and becoming more comprehensive.
