In-Person Cycle returns to Galeria Vera Cortês with João Louro

Wednesday, September 24, 2025 - 11:36

The In-Person conversation cycle is back at Galeria Vera Cortês in Lisbon, in an ongoing partnership with School of Arts of Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Porto. This initiative promotes encounters between artists, curators, collectors, and researchers to discuss and explore topics related to contemporary art.

The next session will take place in the context of the opening of João Louro's exhibition The Origin of the Predatory Animals, which opens to the public on September 25, at 6:00 p.m. In this exhibition, the artist explores a wide constellation of references, ranging from pop culture to structuralism and post-structuralism. This extensive lexicon inscribes Louro's work in an investigation into how collective symbols and visual codes shape the cultural imagination.

On September 27, at 4:30 p.m., João Louro will join curator Nuno Crespo for a conversation open to the public. The meeting will focus on the exhibition, but also on the artist's career and work, offering a privileged opportunity for direct contact with his thinking and artistic practice.
