As part of the partnership between the School of Arts and the Serralves Foundation, the students of the Art, Conservation and Restoration degree had the opportunity to take part in the intervention of 50 models by the architect Álvaro Siza Vieira, now on display in the exhibition C.A.S.A - Álvaro Siza Collection, Archive.
The models, made up of different materials such as cardboard, paper, K-line and styrofoam, were subjected to a process of deep and surface dirt cleaning, staining, removal of adhesives, fungus and residues, as well as gluing, among other conservation and restoration solutions.
Among the works intervened upon are emblematic projects by the architect, such as Casa Armanda Passos, Complexo da Boavista, Casa do Cinema Manoel de Oliveira, etc...
Curated by architect António Choupina and coordinated by Sónia Oliveira, the exhibition, organized by the Serralves Foundation, is located in the Álvaro Siza Wing - on a floor dedicated to Architecture - built to be the Collection's House. The exhibition includes a wide range of projects beyond the walls of Serralves, other Houses of Culture, Houses of Knowledge, Houses of Faith, Houses of Leisure, Houses of Commerce, Family Houses, People's Houses, Work Houses.
Throughout his career, Siza Vieira has received several distinctions, including the Pritzker Prize in 1992, considered the highest recognition in the field of Architecture.
