On February 15, Livraria da Travessa, in Lisbon, is hosting a talk with Lilia Schwarcz, an initiative organized in partnership with School of Arts.
Starting at 6:30pm, the bookshop will host the Brazilian artist for a conversation with Bárbara Reis, a journalist from Público. This initiative is taking place as part of Lilia Schwarcz's presence in Portugal to take part in the Escola das Artes' annual program of conferences, concerts, exhibitions and performances - "It wasn't Cabral: reviewing silences and omissions" - curated by the Brazilian intellectual.
The opening session of the cycle takes place on February 16, at 6:30 pm, with a conference led by the curator, entitled "Images of whiteness: the presence of absence". This presentation will look at how, for a long time, an asymmetrical relationship has been imposed on the relationship between whiteness and blackness. Regimes of visibility and invisibility; of presence and absence, of identity and anonymity inscribed in visual forms and documents.
Admission to both events is free.
