On March 6, we welcomed Frederico Pedreira for the second session of the EA’s program of concerts, conferences, exhibitions, and performances.
Titled Caros Desconhecidos, this conference took inspiration from a song by Caetano Veloso, written during his political exile in London during Brazil’s dictatorship.

Frederico Pedreira shared the following thought with us:
"A political exile wanders through a foreign city. He spots a kind and helpful policeman who seems nothing like the officers from his own country. Or so it appears. Meanwhile, a small village somewhere in the Portuguese countryside prepares for the imminent arrival of numerous war refugees. A writer works on a book whose title may be nothing more than a promise of good intentions: Caros Desconhecidos. To what extent can hospitality sound like hostility?"
