Conversations about “Black Boxes”: Intelligence, Creativity, and Technology

Friday, October 31, 2025 - 11:09

On November 4, at 3:00 p.m., School of Arts of Universidade Católica Portuguesa (Porto) will host the third meeting of the cycle “Conversations about Black Boxes: Intelligence, Creativity, Technology,” part of the IN&OUT of the BOX Exploratory Project.

In this session, artists Catarina Braga and Igor Jesus will talk with curator, professor, and director of School of Arts Nuno Crespo and with professor and researcher Aida Castro (FBAUP, ICNOVA).

The conversation will reflect on the confrontation and articulation between artistic creation and the new technical imperatives that shape today's creative industries.

The cycle is part of the Speculative Workshop Unpacking the Black Boxes: Intelligence, Creativity, Technology, dedicated to the intersection between intelligence, creativity, and technology—three central dimensions of contemporary culture that remain, to a large extent, “black boxes” in our society.

The IN&OUT of the BOX – Exploring Emerging Technologies and Futures Skills in the Creative Industries Project is organized by the NOVA Institute of Communication (ICNOVA) and funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). It counts on the collaboration of CICS.NOVA, FBAUL, HBKSaar, and K8 – Institut für Strategische Ästhetik gGmbH.
