In the fourth iteration of the “Know How / Not Know That” residency, taking place from May 19 to 24, the second-year students of the Master's Degree in New Media Art, Escola das Artes - UCP, will continue their material exploration of the ways in which knowledge is constructed, assuming that “knowing how” means occupying a place in the space of reasons through systems of various kinds.

Each project to be developed - be it Lei's sculptural morphologies with an ecological vocation, Maria Inês Hortênsio's visual cartographies of biographical archives, or Mariana Machado's critical unfolding exercises on the prefixing of “cinema” - stages unique ways of inscribing in this space.

In this constellation, the residency, following the constructive line of the master's program, is constituted as an operative space for research in action - where hypotheses are tested and mediations are manufactured. An exercise that favors “knowing how” and understands artistic practice as a legitimate mode of argumentation and inferential construction.
