School of Arts has prepared a vibrant and diverse calendar for 2025, filled with a variety of activities such as open classes, concerts, conferences, exhibitions, performances, artist residencies and a new edition of the Porto Summer School on Art & Cinema.
Throughout the year, SoA will host renowned national and international artists for a reflection on art, presenting works that challenge the senses and stimulate critical thinking.
João Maria Gusmão Exhibition
We start the year with the opening of an exhibition by the artist João Maria Gusmão. All Them Swines opens on January 17 in the Exhibition Hall of the School of Arts and will be on view until March 14. +info
Cycle of Concerts, Conferences, Exhibitions and Performances
In February, we will begin the usual Cycle of Concerts, Conferences, Exhibitions and Performances, this year under the name “The Foreigner”, which will feature guests such as Djaimilia Pereira de Almeida, Fred Motten and Aline Motta, among many others.
Dashed Concerts 2024/2025
The new Dashed Concerts season began in October 2024 and runs until May 2025. The next concert will take place on February 27 and will be in the format of a Film Concert by Rodrigo Areias, with a live string trio and original music by Samuel Coelho.
Spring Seminar 2025
From May 7 to 9, the Spring Seminar will take place, this year under the theme “Politics of Curatorship”. This seminar will discuss curatorial practices, based on case studies, relationships with the history of curatorship and experiences of new curatorial practices. +info
New exhibitions
Until the end of the year, EA will be presenting new exhibitions, with openings to be announced shortly. An exhibition by the artist Mónica Miranda is due to open in March, an exhibition by Pedro Huet in June, as well as exhibitions by Rosangela Rennó and Hugo Canoilas.
Porto Summer School on Art & Cinema: Technology/Transformation
From June 30 to July 4, the seventh edition of the Porto Summer School on Art & Cinema will take place. Curated by Daniel Ribas, Inês Grosso, José Alberto Gomes and Nuno Crespo, this edition will focus on contemporary practices that challenge the limits of the language of cinema and contemporary art. +info
Sessions with Portuguese directors
We will continue to promote sessions with Portuguese directors, offering a platform for the voices of cinema and new visions to be presented and discussed. +info
