Her academic training began in 1996 with a Bachelor's Degree in Conservation and Restoration from the now defunct Escola Superior de Conservação e Restauro, specialising in the area of Graphic Documents, which was later upgraded to a degree in Conservation and Restoration at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. She continued her studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts with the Master of Science programme and the study topic Discolouration and Opaqueness of Paper due to contact with Air and Pollution. She is currently studying for a PhD in Fine Arts, specialising in Art and Heritage Sciences, with a research project on the implementation of new methodologies for the preservation and conservation of contemporary drawings.

Since 2004, she has been coordinating the Conservation and Restoration of Graphic Documents Office at the Lisbon City Council Archives, where she combines conservation and restoration work with the supervision of curricular internships aimed at developing studies to resolve the need to characterise the materials and forms of degradation in documents.
