This course aims to provide students with a broad, in-depth and critical knowledge of artistic creation in the second half of the 20th century, a defining moment in the modernist transition to contemporaneity.
By the end of the course, students should be able to:
a) Know the concept of the contemporary.
b) Get to know the artistic practice of the period in question, through its main personalities and manifestations.
c) Critically comment on and problematise this practice, using appropriate terminology.
d) Debate the theories associated with the artistic currents of the period.
e) Encourage the study and investigation of contemporary art and its appropriate treatment.
f) Promote the analysis and critical thinking of contemporary art phenomena using the appropriate conceptual and theoretical foundations.
