The films selected for the official competition of the National Animation Award 2024 are now known. From October 21 to 28, the World Animation Festival returns to Castelo Branco and Vila Velha de Ródão for its 23rd edition, this year with two productions from School of Arts.
The film “O Pássaro de Dentro”, by Laura Anahory, a Master's student in Sound and Image at SoA, is in competition for the National Animation Award 2024, in the School Film category. “House on the Hilltop”, a film directed by Laura Anahory and Carlos Mendes, finalists in the MA in Sound and Image, is competing in the same category.
The winner will be announced on October 27, at the Cine Teatro Avenida, in Castelo Branco, and will receive a cash prize of one thousand euros.
The National Animation Award, an annual and itinerant initiative of Casa da Animação, aims to recognize, encourage and promote animation works developed and produced in Portugal by Portuguese authors in three categories: professionals, schools and workshops.
The two films are also nominated for the TAF - Thessaloniki Animation Festival, which takes place from October 17 to 21, in Greece.

The film follows a woman and the bird which lives inside of her, and how their inability to co-live together leads to physical wounds to her body.
House on the Hilltop
