“Conversations in the Reserves” – this is the motto the new municipal reserves project.

Opened on January 14, the Porto Museum Reserves occupy the former Abrigo dos Pequeninos, designed in 1933 by Rogério de Azevedo to support children from the islands of São Vitor. After extensive renovation, which preserved the architectural identity of the building, it was adapted to serve the current needs of heritage conservation and study.

The planning and coordination of the transfer of municipal collections to the Porto Museum Reserves was carried out by Maria Aguiar, a professor at School of Arts, who since 2020 has been overseeing the organization of the collections and specialized spaces suitable for the preservation, research, and management of these collections.

“Methodologies and technical care in the transfer of museum reserves and implementation of new infrastructure” will be the topic discussed by Maria Aguiar in conversation with Luis Pisco on January 26, at 6 pm.
