Wednesday, June 4, 2025 - 11:34

Clarissa Faccini de Lima, a PhD student at the School of Arts, is one of the invited speakers at the fifth edition of the INCCA Student Café, dedicated to the theme Innovative Treatments. The international event, taking place on June 5, 2025, at 4:00 PM, focuses on the challenges posed by contemporary materials in the conservation of contemporary art.

Clarissa will present an overview of her PhD research in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage, developed at Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
Her talk explores the issue of material incompatibility in contemporary artworks, with a particular focus on the case study of Flor Negra (1999), by Cabrita.
In this research, Clarissa has been testing the use of magnetism as an alternative methodology to control physico-mechanical changes in the metal support of the artwork.

The session will also feature presentations by Catarina Rocha Pires and Edwin Huang, dedicated to innovative cleaning methods and non-Western approaches to the conservation of time-based media installations. An open discussion between speakers and participants will follow.

The event takes place online, with English subtitles and automatic Portuguese translation.
Participation is free upon registration.
