From Vila Real to Beja, many secondary school students took advantage of the summer days to live an immersive experience in the creative universe of School of Arts. From 7 to 11 July, the Escola das Artes once again opened its doors to young people with a new edition of the Teen Academy.

For a week, participants explored different artistic areas in a dynamic and collaborative university environment, side by side with students and teachers. For many, this was their first contact with artistic higher education and a preview of their future.

Conservation and Restoration Workshop

For three days, the young people took on the role of conservators and restorers and, among fine brushes, chemical reagents and protective gloves, immersed themselves in heritage preservation techniques, discovering more about the course.

Sound and Image Workshop

SoA  was transformed into a real television set, where the group had the challenge of creating a programme. Between cameras, microphones, editing software and lots of ideas, the participants learnt behind the scenes of the audiovisual world and experimented with various technical functions.

Short Film Project

With access to film equipment and studios, the experience culminated in the realisation of small projects, allowing the young people to take part in all the stages of creating a short film.

This edition was marked by the enthusiasm and contagious energy of the young people, who were able to imagine, experiment and create, and this was the first step towards the future of many budding artists.
