"Fading Apparition", a work made in the scope of the Contemporary Cinema course of the Master in Cinema of the School of Arts, integrates the section "The Video Essay", a non-competitive section of the festival dedicated to film analysis and criticism. This section of the festival is organized through a collaboration between FILMADRID and MUBI, resulting in a joint selection of 7 projects.

Vasco Vasconcelos' work will be screened in Madrid, on June 11, and will later be available at MUBI.

Fading Apparition

Portugal, 2023, Video Essay, 9'37''

Direction: Vasco Vasconcelos

Synopsis: In Weerasethakul’s films, sleep is a form of resistance in a contemporary world that seeks to break its cycles. Using some of the director’s images together with varied sound references, this video essay aims to create an experience without beginning and end but, like sleep, with a cyclic structure.
