School of Arts is once again a partner of the Porto/Post/Doc: Film & Media Festival, promoting a joint program with the festival on November 21, 22 and 23, which includes three masterclasses.

PROGRAM:

November 21, 16h00, Ilídio Pinho Auditorium
Masterclass with María Elorza

masterclasses 1

In this class, María Elorza will share her working methods and strategies, with a special focus on the transition from the short format to the feature film, based on her own journey.

The class will be held in Spanish.

November 22nd, 6:30pm, Ilídio Pinho Auditorium
Masterclass with Leo Goldsmith

masterclasses 2

In this open class, the American critic, who has written for international publications such as 4Columns, Film Comment, e-flux and The Brooklyn Rail, will discuss documentary as speculative fiction/science fiction, i.e. how documentary can narrate the future. In particular, the critic will look at the work of Peter Watkins and his "pro-staged" films (Punishment Park, The War Game) and how they use documentary techniques to anticipate future scenarios. At the same time, Leo Goldsmith will also analyze contemporary examples such as Riotsville USA, The Rehearsal and Mato Seco em Chamas.

The class will be held in English.

November 23rd, 18:30pm, EA230
Masterclass with Éric Baudelaire

masterclasses 3

In this class, Éric Baudelaire will develop his concept of "faire avec", that is, he will explain how his cinema reflects a collaborative understanding of artistic creation and, in particular, he will address the nature of his partnership with director of photography Claire Mathon and editor Claire Atherton.

The class will be given in English.

Admission to the events is free.
