Catálogo Aurélia - MNSR

Maria Aguiar,

professor at EA, took part in the production of the Catalogue Raisonné of the painter Aurélia de Souza, which has just been released in digital format.

The Catalogue Raisonné had the Portuguese Catholic University in Porto as a partner institution and is now available online, as one of the activities carried out to commemorate the centenary of her death.

In 2020, the Soares dos Reis National Museum (MNSR) and the Art History Institute of the New University of Lisbon (IHA-UNL), in partnership with the Portuguese Catholic University in Porto, the Matosinhos City Council and the Porto City Council, set about the task of identifying, cataloguing and photographing all the known work of the painter Aurélia de Souza.

The survey and study of Aurélia's complete oeuvre was carried out over the last three years by a team coordinated by Art Historian Raquel Henriques da Silva (IHA-UNL) and made up of Conservator Ana Paula Machado (MNSR), Conservator-Restorer Maria Aguiar (CITAR-UCP) and Art Historian Elena Komissarova (IHA-UNL).

The work was also supported by the Centre for Research in Science and Technology of the Arts (CITAR) of the Portuguese Catholic University, Porto City Council, Matosinhos City Council, University of Porto, HERCULES Laboratory - University of Évora, National Civil Engineering Laboratory, José de Figueiredo Laboratory, and numerous private collectors, especially the painter's relatives, and the project's patron, the Millennium bcp Foundation.
