On November 20, the Portuguese Catholic University opened an exhibition at the Amélia de Mello Foundation Gallery in Lisbon, dedicated to Julião Sarmento's drawings, accompanied by texts by Gonçalo M. Tavares.
"Julião Sarmento. A Pedra e o Desenho. 60 desenhos para livro de Gonçalo M. Tavares" is the title of the exhibition curated by Bruno Marchand, which brought together the academic community to remember, explore and analyze both the life and work of the artist Julião Sarmento, who was part of the Advisory Board of School of Arts.
The opening was attended by the Rector of the Portuguese Catholic University, Isabel Capeloa Gil and the Director of School of Arts, Nuno Crespo.
After the opening of the exhibition, there was a round table discussion with Bruno Marchand, Gonçalo M. Tavares, João Oliveira Duarte and Nuno Crespo, Director of School of Arts.
Nuno Crespo, director of School of Arts, took the opportunity to reflect on "the relationship Julião had with other artists and the way we think about what an artist-curator is."
The exhibition is on show at the Amélia de Mello Foundation Gallery until November 30 and can be visited every weekday from 2pm to 5pm. For group visits, please contact catolicacultura@gmail.com
