Cristina Sá, Coordinator of the Sound and Image Degree at the School of Arts, is one of the speakers at the "Feeding a Cause" series of talks.
"Art and Social Responsibility" is the title of another session in this cycle, an initiative promoted by the Serralves Foundation in scientific partnership with the Portuguese Catholic University in Porto. The event will take place on April 14 at 11 a.m. in the Serralves Foundation Library.
Access is free, subject to prior registration.
Synopsis:
Within the broad area of Art and Social Responsibility, this session will address creative artistic practices (little a / little c, mini c) whose purpose is not the creation of artistic work. It will look at concerns for fostering these practices in communities of non-artists with a view to enhancing social transformation. The aim is to apply the methodologies of transformative research to artistic practices in communities and also to explore ways of measuring their impact, in order to influence policies and the recognition of this area, in line with the best practices of this research philosophy. Examples will be presented of recent interventions with multidisciplinary teams (Psychology, Biotechnology and Art) on issues related to Climate Change and Emotion Regulation at Covid19, among others. Proposals (currently being researched) for measuring transformative potential will be explored, taking into account the fact that these interventions have been very short and one-off.
