They arrived from various parts of the country - Porto, Bragança, Lisbon, Alentejo and more - and, since last Monday, July 1, they have lived an immersive and unforgettable experience at the School of Arts. Over the course of a week, around 60 secondary school students took part in the latest edition of Católica's biggest summer academy - Teen Academy.
As in previous editions, the School of Arts offered three different programs covering the artistic areas taught, with proposals to teach, enlighten and entertain its participants. They were led by degree teachers and monitors who guided the young people on a journey of discovery through the world of professions.
With future university students in mind, who are very close to entering higher education, EA opened its doors and, through short courses, clarified doubts about the next stage, encouraged familiarization with the academic environment and also intended to contribute to the participants' choice of a vocational path.
It was an excellent opportunity for them to familiarize themselves with the world of the arts through artistic and technological experimentation - for many, their first contact - and, at the same time, to meet people who shared their interests.
The Conservation and Restoration Workshop, the Sound and Image Workshop and the Short Film Project were the courses offered this year.
The outcome of the activities was extremely positive. For many, this experience represented the start of a career in the arts and the beginning of a new and exciting journey at the Escola das Artes.
The Teen Academy will return next year with a new program, which will be announced in due course. Stay tuned for news here.
