- Recognize the materials and techniques used in the execution of painting on canvas, from the support to the surface layers.
- Develop technical documentation skills through organoleptic examination, photographic techniques and optical microscopy.
- Select, collect and prepare cross sections for observation under an optical microscope.
- Understand phenomena of textile support degradation.
- Handle optical and digital microscopes and pH measurement equipment.
- Understand the phenomena of degradation of ground and paint layers and final coatings.
- Recognize signs of degradation in the works under study.
- Develop a diagnosis based on technical and material knowledge of the work and identified pathologies.
- Propose treatment strategies.
- Recognize the characteristics, advantages and limitations of conservation materials (solvents, film-forming materials, canvas, pigments/paints).
