The presentation of content in class allows students to understand the emergence of the field of art (as proposed by P. Bordieu), in conjunction with social, political, economic and cultural structures. It is with this mapping that it will be possible to clarify the definition and stabilization of the expression contemporary art and its functioning in the mechanisms of exhibition, circulation and market.
Therefore, by the end of the semester, students must develop the following skills and competencies:
a) Know the historical antecedents that structure the creation of the field of art;
b) Identify the main agents in defining the artistic;
c) Understand the plural formulations of an idea of art and the progressive definition of an artist;
d) Know the main debates and theoretical thrust of the autonomization of art;
e) Relate artistic practice with the different exhibition spaces;
f) Master different exhibition models and their social, cultural, institutional and political implications;
g) Monitor the developments of institutional criticism and exhibition models from the post-war period to the present;
h) Understand the theoretical and critical difficulties inherent in the definition of art and, for the most part, contemporary.
