Colour theory and practice

3 ECTS / Semestral / English, Portuguese

Objectives:

To introduce students to the world of colour in order to recognise its use in works of art. To explain which pigments, lacquers and dyes have been discovered, invented and used over time, with reference to palettes and uses in the various artistic periods. To provide knowledge of concepts about the construction of colour through the interaction of light on matter versus the production of colour by artists, referring to the various associated theories. To introduce students to the world of colour in order to understand and apply colour reintegration techniques used in conservation and restoration interventions.
