Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:
1) To understand the chronological alignment of European Art History, since the 4th century until Gothic Art.
2) To apprehend the importance of the historical, political, social, cultural phenomena of each chronological moment, as well as geographical specificities and their impact on the European artistic production.
3) To cement a diachronic vision of artistic production that allows the identification of synchronous manifestations, including influences and artistic exchanges.
4) To identify in each block of content the defining characteristics of a particular style or artistic production, to know the main works produced and to point out some of the cultural and artistic innovations.
5) To recognize Portuguese particularities regarding the chronology, typology and formal characteristics of the styles under study.
6) To elaborate on the contents, mastering stylistic, material, typological and periodization characteristics, in a sustained and reasoned manner.
7) To understand the importance of Art History for Conservation and Restoration.
