Carla Filipe

 

Carla Filipe's work is built upon the appropriation of objects and documents or through the fluid relationship between art objects, popular culture, and activism.

In her research, the artist employs materials and elements such as flags, posters, newspapers, and railway artifacts.

Her artistic journey began in Porto in 2001, where she was part of the artist-run spaces movement. She co-founded Salão Olímpico and Projecto Apêndice, and in 2009, she was awarded a scholarship by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation for an artistic residency at ACME Studios (UK).

Since then, her career has gained increasing national and international recognition, with participation in significant exhibitions and biennials, including:
