In 2018, the invited directors, whose work has been circulating between the cinema and the gallery, provoking new ways of seeing and experiencing cinema, were Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Salomé Lamas, João Pedro Rodrigues & João Rui Guerra da Mata, João Salaviza and Filipa César. Each director worked with a curator who participated in the activities of the summer course and discussed and commented on the different exercises developed. The invited guests were: João Ribas (former Director of the Serralves Museum), Guilherme Blanc (Cultural Advisor to the Porto City Council), Sabeth Buchmann (Professor of the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna), Teresa Cruz (Professor of the New University of Lisbon) and Haden Guest (Director of the Harvard Film Archive).
This edition included the opening of two exhibitions: Auto-Retrato, by Salomé Lamas, at the School of Arts’ Gallery and The Serenity of Madness, by Apichatpong Weerasethakul, at the Oliva Creative Factory. It also included several screenings, which took place in Porto’s film theatres: Casa das Artes, Passos Manuel, Auditório Biblioteca Almeida Garrett, Serralves Museum.
