Pedro Andrade

Pedro Andrade is a Sociologist and Researcher at Communications and Society Research Centre-CECS, University of Minho, Portugal. PhD obtained in 2002, at New University of Lisbon, Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, under supervision of Prof. José Augusto Mourão, and entitled Drink, Power and Knowledge: socio-symbolic and cultural consumptions within drinking houses. PhD Grade: Very Good with Distinction Cum Laude by unanimity (Muito Bom com Distinção e Louvor por unanimidade). Prof. Andrade taught at the University of Coimbra and University of Lisbon, on Sociology of Culture, Communication, Sociological Methods, Digital Humanities. He developed research about cultural heritage, urban cultures and cultural tourism, art communication, art/science museums, literacies, digital social networks (Web 2.0/Web 3.0), methodologies / hybrimedia. Coordinator of international projects funded by FCT-Foundation for Science and Technology, Lisbon. E.g., Scientic-Technological Literacy and Public Opinion: the case of Science Museums, Ref. POCTI /SOC/35279/2000 (since 2000 until 2005, on science heritage at museums, Classification: Excellent. And Coordinator of project Public Communication of Arts the case of global/local art museums', Ref. PTDC/CCI/68595/2006. (since 2007 until 2011, about cultural heritage within art museums and its relationships with audiences, tourism, digital/virtual sociological methodology, hybrimedia interaction, sociological/cultural games, social networks, virtual/augmented reality). Participation within international university webs, e.g., at Virginia Commonwealth Univ. (USA). Co-founder of international network Visual Methods (2018 -), coordinated by University of Savoie-Mont Blanc, France, and by University of Seville, Spain.  Member of the project Manifesto Art and Social Inclusion in Urban Communities, involving King’s College, Chelsea School of Arts, Universities of Loughborough, Plymouth (UK), Utrech, Gronigen (Netherlands), Leuven (Belgium), Minho (Portugal). Author of circa 200 publications, such as journal articles published in international and national journals with peer review, edited and authored books and conference papers.
