School Board: Shaping the Future of the School of Arts

Thursday, September 3, 2026 - 10:26

The School of Arts has been preparing for the new school year for a few weeks now, with the goal of making your experience in our community even more engaging, with higher-quality instruction, better facilities, and a rich cultural program.

To ensure this sense of connection is genuine, starting in the 2026/2027 academic year, there will be a School Council composed of student representatives from all EA programs—without the presence of program coordinators—so that it serves as a freer and more open forum to receive all your feedback regarding the overall operation of the School and each program. We believe it is essential to listen to you so that we can improve and address any issues you may have more quickly.

In recent months, the School of Arts has been working on a major upgrade of its equipment and infrastructure. New classrooms and the renovation of many others will better enable us to provide you with a positive classroom experience. We will also have new equipment in all areas of the school (Sound and Image, Conservation and Restoration, Film), much of it featuring state-of-the-art technology, ensuring we remain fully up to date

The new year brings a variety of masterclasses, workshops, exhibitions, film screenings, and many other activities. We’d like to highlight the exhibition "Arquivo da Desobediência" in October, which will feature an accompanying film program, as well as exhibitions by Vasco Araújo and Cao Guimarães throughout the academic year. We are also preparing the second edition of Art + Tech x, curated by Joasia Krysa, as part of our Program of Lectures, Performances, and Concerts this spring. The 2027 Summer School, dedicated to the Archive, will feature an exhibition by Délio Jasse, as well as appearances by other artists and filmmakers. In the winter semester, we will once again partner with the DocLisboa, Doc’s Kingdom, and Porto/Post/Doc festivals, offering a series of masterclasses. Our conferences will feature new editions, as will the Heritage Lab & Advance Training.

More news coming soon.
