Special Tribute Session to João Canijo

Monday, March 9, 2026 - 15:21
Over the last few years, João Canijo was a professor at the School of Arts, mainly supervising students working on their final projects for their degree in cinema. It was with a great sense of loss that we heard the news of his death in January this year. His sudden passing has left us poorer as a community. João Canijo's intellectual and creative mark was already a strong presence, felt even in the films produced by the School. His generosity with students — talking to them, responding to their emails — was enormous. We will always remember his presence, cigarette in hand, in the Pátio das Artes, talking about cinema.

On March 10, we will hold a session in his honor, a moment to celebrate his life and artistic legacy, recalling his singular contribution to cinema with the film "Três Menos Eu".
