Symposium Olhares sobre a Animação Portuguesa
15 NOV | 10h00 | Multimedia Center - Multipurpose Room
In the 2024 edition, the Symposium Olhares sobre a Animação Portuguesa, curated by Professor Sahra Kunz, will be dedicated to the work of Regina Pessoa (Coimbra, 1969). This director is one of the most important figures in contemporary author animation in Portugal. Her cinematography, from A Noite (1999) to Tio Tomás, A Contabilidade Dos Dias (2019), has earned international recognition at the world's most prestigious animation festivals, leading to her induction onto the jury panel for the Oscars and special recognition at the Annecy festival in 2023.
The edited panel includes guests: Laura Castro, professor at the Escola das Artes, Patrícia Oliveira (UCP/FEP - Psychology), Luísa Veloso (ISCTE) and Pedro Serrazina (Lusófona). We believe that the diversity of this panel will provide a unique and diverse view of Regina Pessoa's work.
- “Social relations, identities and temporalities in Regina Pessoa's work” - Luísa Veloso
- “Through the screaming pencil: The drawings of pain and metamorphosis of Regina Pessoa's characters” - Patrícia Oliveira
- “The gleaner of memories” - Laura Castro
- “Memory spaces: Regina Pessoa's films” - Pedro Serrazina
CINANIMA's organization continues to pursue this project, with the main objective of disseminating Animation research to audiences that are familiar with it, but also to attract new audiences.
