Monday, March 10, 2025 - 11:02

On March 3 and 4, two students from the Master's in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Property took part in the 26th Contemporary Art Conservation Conference, which took place at the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid.

The Contemporary Art Conservation Conferences play an important role in disseminating and discussing the challenges inherent in the practice and theorization of contemporary art conservation and restoration. Inês Tavares, a 2nd year master's student, presented “Challenges During the Documentation Process of Escultura dentro da Floresta (1968-1969), by Alberto Carneiro” and Francisca Lafuente, a final year student, presented “Technological Obsolescence in Contemporary Art: Conservation and Restoration Intervention on the Artwork Radiologias (1979), by Silvestre Pestana”.

The XXVI Contemporary Art Conservation Days are organized by the Reina Sofía Museum and sponsored by Fundación MAPFRE. This international meeting aims to share and debate experiences and research, open up new channels of study and reflect on conservation and the professional practice of restorers.
