On October 12, the workshop “Capturing to Document: From Object to 3D Model” took place, focusing on the creation of photorealistic 3D models using mobile devices.
Led by Marius Araújo, Fab Manager at _ARTERIA_LAB at the University of Évora, the session provided an opportunity to explore the different stages of the 3D scanning process, from capturing images of an object to processing them using free tools, giving participants hands-on experience with 3D scanning tools.
Throughout the workshop, the differences between 3D models intended for visual documentation and those obtained using professional scanners - which are particularly well-suited for applications requiring greater precision, such as measurement, reconstruction, CNC manufacturing, and 3D printing - were also discussed.
Aimed at students and teachers, with or without prior experience, the workshop provided an opportunity to explore new digital tools and methodologies.
