Nuno Loureiro is a producer, multi-instrumentalist & sound artist from
Porto. His insistent experimentalism——whether channeled through a
computer, an octatrack or a modular——ensures that his sound is
constantly evolving. Deeply versed in multiple DSP varieties of the
1990's to 2010's, Loureiro's concept-first processual approach often
leads him to construct sample-based systems that serve as his sonic
playground.
This approach takes centre-stage on Nuno Loureiro's debut release Lua Onus released in 2023 on Superpang. Finding a technical kinship amongst computer music's online forums, Loureiro modifies this audio DNA by refusing to stick with any sort of clichéd sound palette. Loureiro records his material by whatever means are at hand, feeding the samples straight into systems where control & randomness flip-flop. The result is often a compelling mix where post-human algorithmic trickery leans into a pseudo-LoFi patina.
Loureiro extends his practice into web-based multimedia, creating interactive experiences that push beyond the traditional ready-made formats. For gnration, he developed Lua Tua (luatua.nunoloureiro.xyz), an online work that uses a combination of p5.js & Hydra for visuals, alongside Pure Data/webpd for real-time audio synthesis. It is a unique ambient landscape that operates entirely within the browser, inspired by his experiments using neural networks to re-interpret his Lua Onus album.
Nuno Loureiro has showcased his work at prominent festivals and venues
including Tremor, Meakusma, Gnration & Semibreve. An extensive touring
artist, he performs both as a solo act and with his various musical
projects: TNL, Solar Corona, Fugly & Milteto. His past collaborations
include work with Richie Culver and Pedro Huet. Beyond performing,
Loureiro hosts the monthly radio program "reza clunx schemes" on CAMP
Radio, an independent station operating out of an art residency in the
Pyrenees mountains.
Art + Tech x Cosmos =
The programme brings together artists, creative technologists, curators, writers, and thinkers with contributions extending across several thematic constellations: from spiritual and the mythic, socio-technological infrastructures and (de)colonial logics, to speculative futures. Through these contributions, the programme explores the potential to reshape how we think about human and nonhuman creativity, how we experience the convergence of art and technology, and how their imaginative possibilities can inspire new cultural practices and worlds.
