Born in Aveiro (Portugal) in 1962. Holds a PhD in Contemporary Art, Delfim Sardo is a professor at Colégio das Artes and Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Coimbra where he coordinates the master degree in Curatorial Studies. Since 1990, he curates exhibitions on contemporary art, besides writing essays on art. He was the curator of Lisbon Architecture Trienial in 2010, director of the Exhibition Center at Centro Cultural de Belém and consultant to the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. He founded and directed the Pangloss magazine. He curated the Portuguese Representation in 48th Venice Biennale and co-curator of the Portuguese Representation in the Venice Arcitecture Biennale in 2010. He published the books Julião Sarmento, Catalogue Raisonée, Edições Numeradas, Vol. I (MEIAC, 2007), Luxury Bound (Electa, Milão, and Assírio & Alvim, Lisboa, 1999), Jorge Molder (Caminho, Lisboa, 2005), Helena Almeida, Pés no Chão, Cabeça no Céu (Bial, 2004), Pintura Redux (Fundação de Serralves/Público, 2006), Abrir a Caixa (Caixa Geral de Depósitos, 2009) and A Visão em Apneia (Babel, Lisboa, 2011). He regularly contributes with essays to publications on art and architecture.
