Salomé Voegelin é uma artista, autora e investigadora comprometida com a audição enquanto prática socio-política. Ela escreve ensaios, livros e partituras de texto para performances e publicações. Mais recentemente, o seu livro Sonic Possible Worlds teve uma segunda edição que continua o trabalho de Voegelin na exploração da possibilidade sónica do mundo na possibilidade e impossibilidade sónica do corpo, repensando construções normativas para fabular um corpo diferente do seu som.
A sua prática envolve abordagens participatórias, coletivas e comunitárias. Juntamente com Mark Peter Wright, ela organiza o evento regular de audição e produção sonora transdisciplinar Points of Listening; e desde 2008 ela colabora com David Mollin (Mollin+Voegelin) numa prática em que se reconsideram atualidades socio-políticas, arquitetónicas e estéticas e sítios através da possibilidade do som, das coisas, das vozes e dos textos.
Como investigadora ela trabalha na frente de uma nova economia cognitiva estabelecida pelos estudos sonoros e pela arte sonora. Ela é investigadora principal do conselho de investigação financiado Listening across Disciplines II que se vira para o invisível e a dimensão móvel do mundo para explorar o seu potencial transdisciplinar. Voegelin é professora de som na London College of Communication, na University of the Arts London, e representa atualmente a cadeira de Sound Studies na University of Fine Arts Braunschweig.

Salomé Voegelin is an artist, writer and researcher engaged in listening as a socio-political practice. She writes essays, books and text-scores for performance and publication. Most recently, her book Sonic Possible Worlds appeared in a revised second edition that continues Voegelin’s exploration of the sonic possibility of the world into the sonic possibility and impossibility of the body, rethinking normative constructions to fabulate a different body from its sound.
Voegelin’s practice engages in participatory, collective and communal approaches. She co-convenes, with Mark Peter Wright, the regular cross-disciplinary listening and sound making event Points of Listening (www.pointsoflistening.wordpress.com); and since 2008 she collaborates with David Mollin (Mollin+Voegelin) in a practice that reconsiders socio-political, architectural and aesthetic actualities and sites through the possibilities of sound, things, voices and texts.
As a researcher she works at the forefront of the new knowledge economy established by sound studies and sound art. She is the PI (Principle Investigator) of the UK research council funded project Listening across Disciplines II (www.listeningacrossdisciplines.net) that turns to the invisible and mobile dimension of the world to explore its cross disciplinary potential. Voegelin is a Professor of Sound at the London College of Communication, University of the Arts London, and currently represents the Professorship in Sound Studies at the University of Fine Arts Braunschweig.
