Christianne Mendonza has her doctoral project awarded by FCT, Recycled Histories: Material Studies and Definition of Conservation Guidelines of Scrap Metal Artworks in Post-Colonial Context – Gonçalo Mabunda. It aims to develop conservation guidelines for the sculptures of the Mozambican artist-activist, created from repurposed metals — materially unstable and culturally significant, laden with narratives of war, memory, and post-colonial identity — with the goal of safeguarding both the physical integrity of the works and their political, historical, and symbolic meanings.
