The 5th Ulrich Schiessl Doctoral Colloquium, organized by the ENCoRE network, included the participation of Maria Aguiar as a member of its Board, as well as EA-UCP doctoral candidates Cíntia Freitas and Clarissa Faccini.

The colloquium aims to promote a European forum for the presentation, discussion, and exchange of ideas in research relevant to the conservation and restoration of cultural heritage. In addition, it provides a space for doctoral candidates to meet, interact, and develop future collaborations with their peers in an informal environment. +info

The 5th edition was opened by Amalia Siantou, member of ECCO’s Board, with a presentation entitled: Shaping a Professional Identity in Conservation-Restoration Beyond Disciplines: Experiences from Practice, Research and European Professional Action.

Doctoral candidates from 10 countries attended the colloquium, which included 20 participations supported by ENCoRE. Doctoral candidates Cíntia Freitas and Clarissa Faccini had the opportunity to present their research projects: Management, Policy and Practice: Conservator-Restorer’s Profile in Portugal's Evolving Cultural Heritage Institutional Framework and Reimagining “Flor Negra”: A Collaborative Artist-Conservator Approach Exploring Magnetic Systems, respectively.

Following the presentation and discussion of each research project, group working sessions were held, moderated by the Board.

The journal Conservar Património launched a special issue dedicated to the Colloquium, offering candidates the opportunity to publish their work according to the usual peer-review process.
