With the arrival of the new academic year, new students at the Portuguese Catholic University in Porto can now apply for their Student Card - Caixa IU Card, which is essential for accessing services and benefits both on and off campus. In addition to identifying the student and providing access to discounts from partners, the card can also be used as a debit card by opening an account with Caixa Geral de Depósitos.
How to apply for the card?
In person: Students can apply for their card at the Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD) stands that will be in the Central Building Lobby between September 8 and 19.
Online: Through the CGD platform, using the digital mobile key. https://caixaonboarding.cgd.pt/
Documents required to apply: Citizen card or equivalent document with tax identification number and proof of address (only for non-Portuguese citizens).
How to collect the card?
Student card only: in person at the faculty.
Debit card: sent by mail by Caixa Geral de Depósitos to the address provided by the student.
What are the advantages of the card?
The Caixa IU Card (with or without banking facilities) is the Catholic University's student ID card and guarantees access to the Library if you study outside campus hours, access to the car park (upon purchase of access at the Stationery Store) and use of the University's printers, upon payment. It also gives you access to discounts at partner establishments.
The Card remains valid throughout your period of study and will be automatically renewed if you remain at the Catholic University.
