Tuesday, June 18, 2024 - 12:57

The 6th edition of the Porto Summer School on Art & Cinema kicked off yesterday with Dino D'Santiago, one of today's great performers, who opened the public program on the stage of the Escola das Artes. Until June 21, the Summer School offers the city of Porto a series of initiatives open to the community.

"Como Seria", "Kriolu" and "Mundu Nôbu" were some of the songs played by the artist during the Showcase. Dino D'Santiago, visibly enthusiastic, gave a solo performance in the blackbox of the Ilídio Pinho Auditorium, presenting his innovative mix of Cape Verdean rhythms with global urban and electronic music.

His contagious energy has been winning over everyone he meets and, at School of Arts, the artist fited audience that vibrated at every moment.

Between music and dance, the singer started an important discussion about emerging themes and current conflicts. In an intimate conversation, he shared memories of his childhood and his journey, talked about faith, his career and his social intervention projects.

There was also room to project the video produced in the afternoon workshop, as part of the Summer School, which resulted in the collective creation of the theme "Cuidado", a song that, in the words of Dino D'Santiago, "makes us look, feel, think and act".

Straight from the blackbox, School of Arts broadcast the event online for those who didn't have the chance to watch it live. This year, the Porto Summer School on Art & Cinema will be broadcasting its main events live on its Youtube Channel and on the School of Arts website.

There's plenty to see until Friday at School of Arts. Public program available here.
