Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) has loaned the work SAAL Neon (2023) by artist Ângela Ferreira to be included in the group exhibition A palavra é o lugar – a Constituição da(s) Comunidade(s), opening on April 25, 2026. The sculpture will be installed on the façade of the new building of the Portuguese Parliament, as part of the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the Portuguese Constitution.

Produced in 2023 for the exhibition SAAL Neon (2023), presented at the Católica Art Center between October 25, 2023, and February 5, 2024, the work is currently installed outdoors at the School of Arts building. Its inclusion in this exhibition reinforces the presence of the UCP Collection within nationally significant institutional contexts and highlights the School of Arts’ commitment to the public activation and circulation of the works it holds.

Organized by the Commemorative Commission for the 50th anniversary of April 25, in partnership with the Portuguese Parliament, the exhibition "A palavra é o lugar – a Constituição da(s) Comunidade(s)" proposes a reflection on the power of language as a political space and on the Constitution as a founding discourse of collective life.

Starting from the idea that “we are made of words,” the exhibition brings together artists and works that use language as a medium, exploring its performative potential in shaping communities, narrating the past, and projecting futures. In a time marked by growing distrust in the truth of public discourse, language is understood here as both a site of conflict and a space for creation and transformation.

The exhibition will run until the end of October 2026 and will occupy several spaces of the Portuguese Parliament, including outdoor areas and the Parliament’s Interpretative Centre, as well as other media platforms. The program also includes parallel events and projects developed in collaboration with communities across Portugal.
