Luís Sarmento interests lie on the generic field of adaptive/generative interface development in the context of artistic production. His work explores the potencial of web interactive systems and its relation to mass participation as an artistic strategy. He teaches since 2006 at Portuguese Catholic University's School of Arts. Researcher at CITAR (Research Center for Science and Technology in Art) since 2005. His PhD thesis is titled "Mass participation in art: Patterns and unpredictability". Holds a Graduate Degree in Sound and Image, with a Digital Arts specialization, that was concluded in 2004.
