The Artistic Residencies program at the School of Arts consists in a period of residency - that could last from 2 to 6 months - at the School for developing research and artistic work in the fields of visual arts, cinema, new media art, and sound. These Residencies are part of the philosophy of the School as an “art center”, in which ongoing activities will foster knowledge and contemporary creation. They also support the different artistic Bachelor, Master and PhD that the School offers, putting the artists in interactions with students in a creative environment of mutual contamination.
Currently, the School of Arts promotes three different Artistic Residencies:
- in cooperation with the City Council’s programme InResidence. At the moment, Ana Vaz is the InResidence artist at the School.
- in cooperation with the Gulbenkian Foundation. (See the current open call here).
- and a School of Arts’ own program. At the moment, Jonathan Uliel Saldanha is the School’s Artist in Residence.
